Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2017 Bali…… numero uno!

If you have ever travelled outside of your own country or even domestically, then no doubt you’re familiar with TripAdvisor, the website portal most frequently used by tourists, wanting to rate destinations and find information on where and when to go while planning their next holiday getaway.

The results have just come in for TripAdvisors 2017 Travelers’ Choice Awards and it was Bali, The Island of The Gods that came out on top as the number one travel destination in the world.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards have now been running for 9 years and the winner is chosen based upon the number of reviews and or ratings submitted by the general public within a given one year period. Also taken into account is the total number of bookings made in that period for the winning destination, in this case, Bali, Indonesia.

In the first eight years of the Travelers’ Choice Awards TripAdvisor only considered urban cities to be eligible to win the award, however this year TripAdvisor decided to include ‘Islands’, as also being permitted to participate in the awards.

Below are the results for this year’s Travelers’ Choice Awards

TripAdvisors’ 2017 Top 10 Destination

  • Bali, Indonesia
  • London, UK
  • Paris, France
  • Rome, Italy
  • New York City, United States
  • Crete, Greece
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Siem Reap, Cambodia
  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • Phuket, Thailand

“The people of Bali should be very proud, this award belongs to the people of Bali” quoted Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana, the Head of the Bali Branch of the Indonesian Tourism Association (GIPI).

Not only did Bali win the best destination award but also an award for one of the top 10 hotels in the world, the Mandapa, a Ritz Carlton managed property in hills of transient Ubud. The Mandapa came in at number #2 the second best hotel in the world, as listed by TripAdvisor for 2017, an amazing achievement for Bali’s flourishing tourism sector.
